Melbourne Cup Hair Inspo: Race Day Hair With the Length and Volume, Minus the Commitment

Quick answer

The best race day hair sits comfortably around a fascinator or hat, survives wind and lasts from first race to last drinks. Soft waves, a polished half-up style and a sleek low ponytail are the safest choices. Clip-ins, a Halo or a wrap-around ponytail add length and fullness for the day, then come out at night.

Race day hair has a harder job than almost any other event look. It has to work with a fascinator or hat, hold up in a spring wind, last eight or more hours, and look good in every photo someone takes of you from the side. Here are the Melbourne Cup hairstyles that cope with all of that, and how temporary extensions add the length and volume to pull them off.

What makes good race day hair?

Spring racing season peaks with the Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday in November, and it is the most hair-heavy stretch of the Australian social calendar. Your hair has three tests to pass.

It has to work with your headwear

Fascinators, headbands, pillbox hats and wide brims all need somewhere to anchor. A fascinator on a comb or clip needs a dense patch of hair to grip, usually slightly off-centre on one side. A hat needs the crown to be fairly flat, so a big teased crown fights it.

It has to handle the weather

Spring at the track can mean gusty wind at noon and warm, humid air by mid-afternoon. Styles that keep the length behind the shoulders, or gathered at the nape, hold up best.

It has to last the whole day

Whatever you choose needs to look nearly as good at 6pm as it did at 10am, without constant touch-ups.

New to extensions?

Ready-to-wear extensions go in at home, need no salon visit, and come out at the end of the night. They are made for one-off events like the Cup.

Three Melbourne Cup hairstyles that work with headwear

Three styles keep returning because they sit well around headwear and survive a long day.

Soft waves

Loose, brushed-out waves pair with almost any fascinator and look relaxed under a brimmed hat. Keep the waves starting from around cheekbone level down, so the top stays smooth where the headpiece sits. Waves need length to read properly.

Polished half-up

Taking the top section back and securing it at the crown gives a fascinator something firm to clip into, and keeps hair off your face in the wind. The half-up hairstyle with a fascinator is probably the most practical race day look there is. The lengths left down need fullness, or the style looks thin from behind.

Sleek low ponytail

A low pony at the nape leaves the whole crown free for a hat or a statement headpiece, and it is the most wind-proof option on this list.

Style Best headwear How it handles wind Extension that suits it
Soft waves Side fascinator, brimmed hat Most exposed; needs good hold Halo or clip-ins
Polished half-up Fascinator on comb or clip Front stays put; lengths move Classic or seamless clip-ins
Sleek low ponytail Any hat, pillbox, headband Most secure of the three Wrap-around ponytail

Why length and fullness lift every race day look

Every one of these styles looks more intentional with more hair. Waves on shoulder-length hair tend to bounce out into a bob shape. A half-up style on fine hair leaves a sparse tail. A low pony on medium hair can end up the width of a finger. Adding length and density is what makes a style look finished rather than improvised.

Quality matters here too. Superior Hair extensions are 100% Remy human hair, meaning the cuticles all run the same direction. That keeps the hair from tangling against itself in the wind, and lets you curl, straighten and style it with hot tools just like your own hair. If you are unsure which length will look natural against your own, the hair length guide shows where each length falls on the body.

Clip-ins, Halo or ponytail: which suits race day?

For a one-day event, semi-permanent methods like tape-ins are more than you need. Temporary, ready-to-wear pieces are the better fit. Here is how the three main options compare.

Halo weft: fastest full-head volume

A Halo is a single wide weft on a clear wire that sits around the crown, held by tension rather than clips. The Classic Halo comes with a 10 inch main piece plus two 4 inch clip-in wefts for blending at the sides, in 140g or 180g sets, and goes in in under a minute. You choose from six wire sizes for a comfortable fit. It works best on hair that is at least shoulder length, so there is enough to cover the wire. With no clips at the crown, most fascinators sit happily in front of the wire.

Classic and seamless clip-ins: most flexible for styling

Clip-ins let you place hair exactly where the style needs it, which makes them the strongest option for a half-up look. Classic clip-in extensions come as 9-piece sets from 105g to 145g, on a fabric weft that grips well and suits regular to medium hair. Seamless clip-ins use thin silicone wefts that lie flatter, with more hair per set (160g to 240g across 10 pieces), so they suit thicker hair and half-up styles where a weft might peek through at the parting.

Wrap-around ponytail: the sleekest low pony

The ponytail extensions have a velcro base that closes around your own ponytail, then a long strand of hair wraps over the base and is secured with two matching bobby pins. It takes less than three minutes and comes in 20 inch (120g) and 26 inch (160g). It suits thin to thick hair, as long as you can gather a small ponytail at the nape.

Any of these can last up to a year with proper care, so the set you buy for the Cup will see you through Christmas parties, weddings and next year's carnival as well.

Not sure of your shade?

Shade is what makes extensions invisible or obvious, especially in bright outdoor light. Get matched before you order so there is no guesswork on the day.

Your race day get-ready routine, step by step

This is the routine that works for soft waves or a half-up look with a fascinator. Give yourself 45 minutes, and do a full practice run in the week before.

  1. Start with dry, second-day hair. Freshly washed hair is slippery and drops curl fast. Hair washed the day before grips clips and holds a wave far better.
  2. Curl the extensions first. Apply heat protectant, then curl the pieces off your head while they are easy to handle. Keep tools at or below about 180C. Let each curl cool fully before touching it, because cooling is what sets the shape. Our guide on how to curl hair extensions covers wand and iron technique in detail.
  3. Fit the extensions. Place your Halo or clip-ins. Keep the top rows a finger's width below where your fascinator comb will sit, so the headpiece grips your natural hair rather than a weft.
  4. Curl your own hair to match. Use the same barrel size and direction so your hair and the extensions blend into one pattern.
  5. Brush out and set. Once everything is cool, run your fingers or a wide-tooth comb through to soften the waves, then mist with a flexible hold spray.
  6. Pin in the fascinator. Slide the comb in against the direction of growth, then cross two bobby pins over the comb or clip to lock it in.
  7. Do the spin test. Turn your head quickly side to side and give a full twirl in front of the mirror. If anything shifts, re-pin it now, not in the car park.

How to make race day hair last all day

Long lasting event hair comes down to prep and finishing, not how much spray you use.

  • Heat protectant every time. Extensions are human hair but no longer get natural oils from your scalp, so heat damage builds up. Protect before every pass of the tool.
  • Flexible hold, not helmet hold. A brushable hairspray keeps waves in place but still moves when the wind catches it. Stiff sprays crack and look crunchy by the afternoon.
  • Shine spray last. A light mist of shine spray at the end takes away the flat, dry look that bright sun exposes.
  • Choose alcohol-free and sulphate-free products. Both strip moisture from extension hair and shorten its life.
  • Pack a small kit. A few bobby pins, a mini hairspray and a small brush or comb in your clutch will fix most mid-afternoon problems.

If you want specific product suggestions, our roundup of favourite NAK hair products for extensions is a good starting point. Humidity is the one thing no product fully beats, so on a muggy day lean towards the half-up or low ponytail, which hold their shape even when the curl softens.

Hair that photographs well from every angle

Race day photos are rarely taken straight on, so check every angle:

  • Check the back view. Use a hand mirror or a phone photo. This is where a visible weft shows up.
  • Match the root shade. Outdoor light is harsh and shows colour differences that look invisible indoors. Balayage and rooted shades blend more forgivingly if your own hair has grown out a little.
  • Blend the ends. If your hair is much shorter than the extensions, curl both together so the line where your hair ends disappears into the wave.
  • Keep the part tidy. Smooth flyaways along the parting and around the fascinator, since these sit right in the middle of most photos.

Race day volume in under a minute

The Classic Halo adds full-head length and fullness with no clips at the crown, so your fascinator has room to sit.

Not at the track? Cup Day lunches, weddings and summer events

Cup Day is a public holiday in most of Victoria, but in the rest of Australia it is a regular working day. So many people celebrate at long lunches, office sweeps and backyard parties instead, and the same styles work just as well there.

These looks carry straight into the rest of the season too. A half-up style with a headpiece suits a summer wedding, soft waves work for Christmas parties, and a sleek low pony holds up at an outdoor event in January heat. If you are a guest at a wedding this summer, our guide to bridesmaid hairstyles inspired by current trends has more ideas. Save this page for next spring too.

Race day hair FAQs

What is the best race day hair for a fascinator?

A polished half-up style is the most practical race day hair for a fascinator. Securing the top section at the crown gives the comb or clip firm hair to grip, and keeps strands off your face in the wind. Soft waves left down also work well, as long as the top stays smooth where the fascinator sits.

Can I wear clip-in extensions under a hat or fascinator?

Yes. Place the top row of clip-ins a finger's width below where the hat band or fascinator comb will sit, so the headwear anchors into your natural hair rather than a weft. A Halo is another good option, since it has no clips at the crown and most headpieces sit comfortably in front of the wire.

Which Melbourne Cup hairstyles hold up best in the wind?

A sleek low ponytail is the most wind-proof of the classic Melbourne Cup hairstyles, because all the length is gathered at the nape. A half-up style is next, since the front sections are secured. Loose waves are the most exposed, so finish them with a flexible hold hairspray and pack bobby pins for touch-ups.

How long does it take to put in race day hair extensions?

A Halo can be fitted in under a minute, and a wrap-around ponytail in less than three minutes. A full set of clip-ins usually takes a little longer while you section and place each piece. Curling the extensions before you fit them saves the most time on the morning of the event.

Can I reuse race day hair extensions for other events?

Yes. Clip-ins, Halos and ponytail extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair and can be worn again and again. With gentle, sulphate-free care and heat protection every time you style them, they can last up to a year, so the same set works for weddings, Christmas parties and next spring's carnival.

Maintaining Hair Extensions 101

Are you tired of waiting for your hair to grow out or looking for a quick way to add volume and length to your locks? Hair extensions are a fantastic solution! With the ability to transform your hairstyle instantly, hair extensions have become a popular choice for many people. However, just like natural hair, hair extensions require proper care and maintenance to ensure they stay looking their best. In this blog, we will explore some essential tips for maintaining hair extensions so that you can enjoy them for a long time. Brush Your Extensions Regularly One of the most crucial steps in maintaining hair extensions is brushing them regularly. Brushing helps to prevent tangling and matting, which can cause damage to the extensions and your natural hair. Use a wide-toothed comb or a special extension brush to gently detangle the hair, starting from the ends and working your way up. Avoid harsh brushing or tugging as it can cause breakage or pulling on the bonds or wefts of the extensions. Shampoo and Condition with Care Proper shampooing and conditioning are crucial for maintaining hair extensions. Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for hair extensions. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the roots or bonds of the extensions as it can cause slippage or loosen the bonds. Instead, focus on the mid-lengths to ends of the hair. Rinse thoroughly and gently squeeze out excess water with a towel, avoiding any rubbing or twisting motions. Be Mindful of Heat Styling While hair extensions can be styled using hot tools, it's important to be cautious with heat styling to prevent damage. Use a heat protectant spray before using any hot tools, such as flat irons, curling irons, or hair dryers. Avoid applying direct heat to the bonds or wefts of the extensions, as it can weaken the bonds and cause them to slip. Use heat on a lower setting and limit the use of hot tools as much as possible to prolong the lifespan of your extensions. Sleep with Care Sleeping with hair extensions requires some special attention. Avoid going to bed with wet hair or sleeping with your hair extensions loose. Instead, loosely braid or tie your hair in a low ponytail to prevent tangling or matting while you sleep. Consider using a silk or satin pillowcase, which can help reduce friction and minimize damage to the extensions and your natural hair. Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater Chlorine and saltwater can be harsh on hair extensions and cause damage over time. If you plan to swim or be exposed to chlorine or saltwater, consider wearing a swim cap to protect your extensions. If that's not possible, rinse your extensions with clean water immediately after swimming to remove any chlorine or saltwater residue. Follow up with a moisturizing conditioner to restore moisture and prevent dryness. Get Regular Maintenance Just like natural hair, hair extensions also require regular maintenance. Schedule regular appointments with your stylist to have your extensions checked and maintained. This can include tightening the bonds, repositioning the wefts, or replacing any damaged extensions. Regular maintenance will help prolong the lifespan of your extensions and keep them looking their best. Avoid DIY Removal When it's time to remove your extensions, it's essential to avoid DIY removal. Trying to remove the extensions yourself can cause damage to your natural hair and the extensions. Always seek professional help from a trained stylist who can safely remove the extensions without causing any harm to your hair or the extensions. '' In conclusion, proper care and maintenance are essential for maintaining hair extensions and ensuring they look their best for a long time. Regular brushing, gentle shampooing and conditioning, being mindful of heat styling, sleeping with care, avoiding chlorine and saltwater, getting regular maintenance, and avoiding DIY removal are crucial to sustaining the hair of your dreams.

What Affects the Quality of Human Hair Extensions?

What Affects the Quality of Human Hair Extensions?

Human hair extensions are an excellent solution to achieving long, flowing, and natural-looking hair. But before getting extensions, it’s vital to know that these extra inches of hair come in different forms of grade and quality. As hair is a natural product that comes from various individuals, no two sets of hair extensions will be the same. Knowing which one suits you best will help you get the look you desire. We share the factors that cause the quality of human hair extensions to vary. Price When you buy hair extensions in NZ, you’ll quickly learn that you get the quality you pay for. Price varies greatly with hair extensions; synthetic hair extensions are a lot cheaper than high-quality and real human hair. More often than not, cheap synthetic hair will not blend as well with your own tresses compared to natural hair that offers fuller, natural-looking locks. The type of hair used in extensions The texture of your hair extension will also depend on the kind of hair used to create the hair extension itself. While there are synthetic options in the market, the most natural option for extensions is human hair. Reputable hair extension suppliers will give you three basic categories to choose from when shopping for human hair extensions: Virgin Virgin hair extensions use hair that has never undergone chemical processes, treatments, or alterations in any way. This means no dyes, bleaches, or perms have been done after collection. Virgin hair is as natural of a hair extension option as one is ever going to get. Remy Also known as cuticle hair, Remy is healthy and non-processed human hair wherein each strand is carefully selected to ensure the cuticle remains intact. Remy hair runs in the same direction, allowing it to have a soft and silky texture. Remy extensions are also single-sourced, meaning the hair comes from a single person. Grading Grading is also important in determining the quality of your hair extensions. At Superior Hair, we have three different grades of virgin Remy hair extensions: A Grade A grade is medium-grade 100% human hair that has been subjected to a more basic production process. It’s one of the most cost-effective options and remains a top seller in the hair industry because of its quality and price. AAA Grade AAA grade is human hair that is more conditioned and designed to be longer lasting than A grade. AAA grade is processed to handle more washes yet remain soft, shiny, and healthy for longer. Premium Grade Premium grade is the highest-quality processed human hair that is available at Superior Hair. Premium-grade Remy hair has strength and quality that are very similar to Virgin hair and can last up to a year with proper care. The hair under this category has been gently coloured to bring you a wide variety of natural-looking hair colours.   Installation The hairstylist you choose is just as important as the hair extension itself. Why? Because the fixation method and placement skills will affect how naturally your extensions will blend with your natural mane, no matter the hair texture. You need to work with a professional who knows how to apply and remove extensions professionally to avoid hair damage. Colour experience is also a must. An inaccurate colour match will make your extensions obvious. Another non-negotiable is their experience in haircuts. After extensions are put in, you’ll need a haircut that can make your extensions more natural and seamless-looking, with layers that naturally blend your own hair with your new hair. Get premium quality hair extensions from Superior Hair Not all human hair extensions are designed the same, but what matters most is choosing one that’s most suitable for your hair type. At Superior Hair, we offer a wide range of high-quality hair extensions that allow you to achieve gorgeous and natural-looking locks. What Makes Halo Weft Extensions Stand Out?

What Makes Halo Weft Extensions Stand Out?

Halo weft extensions or Halo extensions are newer types of hair extensions in NZ that have gained popularity in the last decade. If you’re looking for ways to add length and volume to your hair, without damaging your delicate natural hair, using a Halo extension can be the ideal solution for you. If you’re not familiar with how this hair extension works, you’ve come to the right place. We cover the basics of Halo - what it is, how it works, and what makes it different from other hair extensions.   What are Halo hair extensions? Halo wefts or Halo weft extensions are made from real human hair. They are primarily used to add length and volume to your hair using less clips than other hair extension methods, which helps to minimise damage over time. How do you install Halo extensions? The halo uses a hidden or transparent wire that sits on your head like a crown. Once successfully placed, your natural hair will sit on top of the halo and firmly hold it in place.   What makes them different from regular hair extensions? More common hair extension methods require glue or clips and if not used correctly, may cause drying, friction, and breakage. On the other hand, the halo doesn’t need extra tools or accessories to attach to your head. 1. Halo vs Clip-Ins: Clip-in hair extensions use small comb-like clips that snap into place on your natural hair. You need to tease your hair first so that it can grip and stay in place. The problem with this is that each time you remove or install clip-ins, some of your natural hair will be caught in the small combs, resulting in hair damage. 2. Halo vs Tape Ins – Tape ins are semi-permanent hair extensions that require no heat tools. They are installed by applying a skin weft above and below sections of your hair, which is best done by a professional. With appropriate care and proper installation, tape ins can generally last between 4-6 months. 3. Halo vs Nano Tips – Nano tips are applied to the hair using a small piece of acrylic and nano beads. Installation requires the assistance of a professional. They are applied similarly to traditional microbead extensions but are 90% smaller; the small extension tips are specifically designed to fit into the tiny beads. Advantages of wearing Halo extensions There are numerous advantages of using Halo hair extensions. Some of them include: • Quick to install – Halo extensions are known for their speedy hair extension installation process. It only takes 30 seconds or less compared to other types of hair extensions that require at least 30 minutes to install. • Comfortable to wear – Placing the halo doesn’t hurt and is extremely comfortable to wear. Wearing Halo extensions can be likened to wearing a hat. You can put it on and take it off in a quick second. • Cost-effective – Installing hair extensions such as the microbead requires the skilled hands of an experienced hair professional, and these services are not cheap. These extensions also require removal and reinstallation every four to ten weeks as your hair grows. On the other hand, you can invest in Halo extensions and they will last for 3 to 12 months. • Low maintenance – There’s no intricate installation or removal process for the Halo extension. Plus, you can sleep with it in! • Zero hair damage – Using Halo extensions doesn’t damage your hair - at all! • Customizable – You can curl, straighten, and even dye your Halo hair extensions!   Add volume and length, without the damage! If you have thin or fine hair and are looking for ways to add volume and length without any chances of hair damage, the Halo extension is your answer! It’s easy to use, quick to put on, comfortable to wear, and safe to use for your delicate, natural hair. At Superior Hair, we offer a range of Halo wefts designed to add thickness and length to your hair. We offer 25 shades of gorgeous, lush hair. Ready for great-looking hair? Why Are My Nano Beads Losing Their Colour?

Why Are My Nano Beads Losing Their Colour?

There are a few reasons why nano beads can lose their colour, causing them to turn copper/gold. If you or your client’s beads turn gold, the following information can help you understand why.  Shampoo ingredients The most common cause of colour loss in nano beads is due to the additives found in shampoos. Even salon quality shampoos, including dry shampoo can contain these additives; affecting beads only after a few washes. The purpose of additives in shampoo is to create a lather, act as a thickening agent or even to keep them from freezing during shipping. If you suspect your shampoo is the cause of the colour loss, you may wish to experiment with another.  Styling Heating tools, such as straighteners, blow dryers and curling irons can all cause nano beads to lose their colour. Frequently touching the beads with these tools will cause the paint to soften and chip away. To prevent this from happening, avoid directly touching the beads with the tool.  Medications Chemicals in certain medications are carried to the hair follicle through the bloodstream, causing nano beads to lose their colour. These toxins can stay in the hair follicle for months and will not wash out. Medications, like antidepressants, birth controls, and acne medications, can induce colour change, as can Vitamin A, and narcotics.

Why Are My Extensions Changing Colour?

Why Are My Extensions Changing Colour?

Just as you would your own hair, hair extensions need to be protected and cared for to avoid any discolouration. As your hair extensions are a natural product, they will behave like human hair. Rest assured that your extensions are not faulty, in fact blonde extensions that have turned a brassy/peachy/pink shade is a common issue experienced by hair extension wearers. Why have my extensions turned brassy?  When blonde hair is coloured, violet/ash pigments are added to the hair to neutralize the warm shades, subsequently eliminating brassy tones. Extensions that have turned from blonde to orange have simply undergone a chemical process, resulting in the violet/ash pigments lifting away from the hair, exposing the natural pigment underneath. Since the hair is no longer attached to the scalp, it no longer receives the natural nutrients that act as a protective barrier.  This porosity along with several possible external triggers is what makes hair extensions more susceptible to damage and discolouration than natural hair.  Triggers that cause discolouration: Sunscreens: Some sunscreens contain a certain ingredient that can alter the colour of your hair extensions often making them appear a peach or brassy tone. When choosing your sunscreen avoid purchasing one that contains Avebenzone (butyl Methoxydibenzolmethane) which is a oil-soluble ingredient used in sunscreen to absorb the full spectrum of UV rays. Water content: Tank water, copper pipes or Hard/high mineral content in water can leave a limescale like residue in the hair. As the hair is no longer attached to the scalp, the oils and nutrients needed to counteract this damage are not there.  Chlorine: Chlorine can strip the hair of oils, colour and moisture leaving it dry, brittle and discoloured. It’s recommended to tie your hair up and avoid submerging it underwater. After swimming, it’s good to run clean water over your hair to remove excess chlorine.  Sea Water: As salt is a natural dehydrator, it will strip your hair of moisture and nutrifying natural oils. Salt water will discolour your hair by removing the violet/ashy pigments in the hair.  Sunlight/UV Rays: Sunlight acts as a natural lightener on hair. Since your hair extensions are lacking the protective barriers your natural hair provides, they are prone to being lightened much faster than your hair would.  As the sun is especially harsh in New Zealandand Australia we recommend using a cap when out in the sun, especially in summer. Correcting discoloured hair extensions To restore the colour of the hair extensions you will need to reintroduce the violet/ashy tones that have lifted away. Start with a small amount of purple/silver shampoo or toner until you reach the desired colour. If using a toner, it’s recommended that you perform a strand test beforehand to guarantee the expected outcome. Aside from discolouration, it’s likely that your hair extensions are also dry. This is a common side effect of discolouration, as not only have the violet pigments stripped away but so have the oils that keep the hair nourished. If you find that the hair feels brittle, you can apply a hair mask or a product designed to give a moisture injection.

How to Prevent Tangling and Matting in Hair Extensions

How to Prevent Tangling and Matting in Hair Extensions

Getting down to the root cause. Don’t you hate it when your hair extensions matt and tangle?Even though hair extensions are a beautiful hair solution, sometimes they can tangle and you don’t even know what’s causing it. The most common causes your extensions tangle  1) Not taking good care of your hair extensions Hair quality of the extensions is important. At Superiorhair, we vow to provide you with the highest tier hair extensions guaranteed. We assure you that you won’t have to worry about those low-quality hair extensions that have been overly processed that would tangle immediately to the exposure of water or poor weather conditions. 2) Low-quality hair products Hair products can take a toll on your hair extensions. The use of proper hair products makes a huge difference in whether your hair will tangle and matt up or remain soft and manageable. Find out what products work best by doing your own personal thorough research or feel free to ask the crew at Superior Hair. We can’t stress it enough, it’s highly recommended that you don’t risk the condition of your hair for low-quality products. Other common causes 3) Hair length Super long hair is prone to tangling so it’s advisable to trim it in layers. 4) Dryness Dry hair becomes brittle and can easily tangle up. Now that you know the common causes of tangling and matting, let's find out how you can prevent them. How to prevent tangling and matting? 1) Regular brushing It’s that simple! Regularly brushing your hair significantly reduces the chances of your hair tangling down the road.Always start from the ends and work towards the roots, and we advise you to do so when your hair is wet. If you opt to brush your hair when wet, be sure to use a wide-tooth comb. Tangling and knotting tend to happen mostly at the ends when hair is not brushed for days. 2) Use Sulphate-free hair products We urge you to steer clear of hair products that contain sulphate. Using products containing sulphates can strip your extensions of their natural moisture, leaving them weak and looking dry. After shampooing, apply an appropriate moisturising hair product that would leave your extensions well hydrated. 3) Secure your hair at night Not tying up your hair can cause your extensions to rub against your pillow throughout the night. As a result, friction is created which leads you to wake up with tangled hair. If you’d rather not tie up your hair, it’s advisable to sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. Protect your hair extensions and prevent tangling at all costs! 4) Detangle, Detangle We cannot emphasize this enough. Also, please note that detangling is very different from brushing. This is what we mean: Brushing is a preventative measure whereasDetangling is a recovery measure if your hair extensions tangle up, it is important to take your time to detangle them while they’re wet. You can also use your fingers so that there’s less tension and pulling on the strands. Ensure the detangling is done thoroughly It’s up to you now! Preventing tangling and matting is not rocket science. All it takes is attention, proper care, and patience. Using proper products and tools go a long way. We hope this blog will help you to prevent tangling, matting, and shedding. Superior Hair hopes that you are now well equipped to handle tangling when it occurs. All the best on your glamourous looks!

Expert Tips for Perfectly Installing Clip-in Hair Extensions

Expert Tips for Perfectly Installing Clip-in Hair Extensions

Hair extensions can be difficult to install at first. But, with enough practice, they should only take up 5 mins of your time in the morning. They’re easy, they make you look gorgeous and do zero damage to your hair. What’s there not to like about them? Step-by-step how to look flawless with your extensions   1. Brushing The process of clip hair extensions starts with brushing your natural hair. Make sure you remove all the tangles using a good quality hairbrush to avoid any issues while using the extensions. 2. Install the longer 4 piece weft First, you want to install the longest weft. Separate your hair horizontally at the back of your head, around your ears. Make sure the separation is relatively straight, clip it up, and clip in your longest weft. This should be your 4 clip weft. Brush it out and start with the next longest piece. 3. Install the next longest piece Your next longest piece could be a 3 clip or 4 clip, depending on your set of extensions. Separate your hair horizontally just above your ears and your first weft installed. Clip it up, and clip your extensions in. Work your way up until you only have the 1 clip/2 clip wefts left. 4. Side wefts Your smaller wefts can be installed on the sides of your hair, and are adjustable to how you want your extensions to look.  5. Protect and Style Take out all of your holding clips, and brush it out. Spray on a heat protectant, and style it however you want!
