Race Day Hair: Styles That Work with a Fascinator and Last All Day

Quick answer

The best race day hair is a low, secured style that gives your fascinator something solid to grip: a sculpted low bun, a sleek low ponytail, a side chignon or a pinned half-up. Prep with texture spray, anchor the fascinator to a crossed bobby-pin base, and add clip-in volume underneath for grip.

Race day hair has a harder job than most occasion styles. It has to hold a fascinator at an angle from the first race to the last, survive a gusty afternoon at Flemington or Randwick, and still look intentional in the photos you take on the way home. The good news is that the styles that last longest are also the easiest to wear a fascinator with. Here is how to choose one, build it properly, and keep it in place all day.

Why does race day hair come undone?

Most race day styles fail for one of three reasons, and none of them is bad luck.

Leverage. A fascinator sits off to one side, often tilted forward, and every time you turn your head it pulls on whatever is holding it. If the comb is gripping a few loose strands, those strands lose. By mid-afternoon the piece has slid back and the hair around it has gone flat.

Slip. Freshly washed, silky hair looks lovely and holds nothing. Pins slide out, combs drift, and curls drop within an hour or two. Hair needs some grit before it will take a fascinator.

Weather. Spring racing weather changes fast. Wind lifts anything loose at the crown, humidity relaxes curls, and a light shower can turn smooth lengths frizzy. A style that only works in still, dry air is a gamble.

The fix for all three is the same: build texture, give the fascinator a secure anchor, and keep the bulk of the hair low and contained. Low styles keep the weight close to your neck, so there is less for the wind to catch and less pull on the fascinator above.

Match your hairstyle to your fascinator

Choose the headpiece first, then the hair. How a fascinator attaches decides where it needs support and which styles will fight it.

Fascinator type How it attaches Best styles Watch out for
Headband fascinator Thin band over the crown, ends tucked behind the ears Sleek low ponytail, low bun, soft waves worn down Band flattening crown volume; band sliding forward on smooth hair
Comb or clip fascinator Comb slides into the hair on one side Sculpted chignon, pinned half-up, braided updo Clean, slippery hair; no pinned anchor underneath
Percher or button hat Fine elastic worn under the hair at the back Low chignon, low side ponytail Elastic needs hair at the nape to hide under
Crown or wide headpiece Sits around the head, often with combs at each side Braided crown, half-up, soft waves Heavier pieces dragging on fine hair

Most people wear a fascinator on the right side, tilted slightly forward, though there is no strict rule. Whichever side you pick, decide before you style. That side needs the most texture and the anchor point, and it is where you should avoid clipping any extension weft directly under the comb.

Six race day hairstyles that last all day

Each of these keeps the weight low and gives the fascinator a firm base.

1. The sculpted low bun

The most reliable race day style. Brush the hair back with a little smoothing cream, secure it at the nape with a strong elastic, then twist and coil it into a bun and pin through the base in several directions. A sleek finish suits a structured headband; a slightly looser, pulled-out bun suits a feathered or floral piece. If your hair is fine or shoulder length, a messy bun extension wraps over a small bun of your own hair and gives you a full updo in minutes.

2. The side-swept low chignon

Set the chignon at the nape, slightly off-centre on the side opposite your fascinator, so the two balance each other in photos. Leave the hair over the fascinator side smooth and pinned flat above the ear. This works especially well with comb fascinators and perchers that need hair at the back to hide an elastic.

3. The sleek low ponytail

Clean and modern, and a good match for headband fascinators. Gather everything at the nape, wrap a small section around the elastic and pin it underneath. A low ponytail barely moves in a breeze. For more length and swing than your own hair gives, Superior Hair's wrap-around human hair ponytail extensions come in 20 inch (120g) and 26 inch (160g) and attach around a small ponytail of your own.

4. The pinned half-up

For anyone who wants hair down without it blowing across the face. Take the top section back, twist it slightly and secure it with two bobby pins crossed in an X. That X becomes the anchor for a comb fascinator. Leave the lengths loose or softly waved. If you wear a halo, keep the fascinator comb in your own secured hair rather than near the wire.

5. Soft waves, pinned back on one side

Hair worn down is the riskiest choice for a long day, but it can work. Curl in larger sections, let each curl cool completely before you touch it, then brush through gently and set with a firm-hold spray. Sweep the fascinator side back behind the ear and pin it flat so the headpiece has a smooth base. Our guide on how to curl hair extensions covers getting waves that hold in both your own hair and the added lengths.

6. The braided crown or braided low bun

Braids are the secret weapon for windy days. A Dutch braid along one side, finished into a low bun, gives a fascinator comb a tight surface to bite into and almost nothing for the wind to lift. Gently pull the braid loops wider for a softer finish, then spray.

Not sure of your shade?

A bun or ponytail piece has to blend at the base, where everyone can see it. Send a photo in natural light and the Superior Hair team will match your shade for free before you order.

Where extensions earn their place on race day

Extensions do more on race day than add length. Extra density gives pins and combs more to hold, which is often the difference between a fascinator that stays put and one that drifts.

Clip-ins for volume and grip

Classic clip-ins come as 9-piece sets and take under five minutes to put in. For an updo, place the wefts in rows below the crown so the clips sit hidden inside the bun or ponytail, and backcomb lightly over each clip so it has something to lock onto. Skip the exact spot where the fascinator comb goes; it needs your own hair. If you are new to them, our walkthrough on how to apply clip-in hair extensions shows placement row by row.

Halo or clip-ins?

A classic halo is the fastest option and is best for hair worn down or half-up. For updos, clip-ins are the better pick, because each weft can be placed where the style needs it and a halo wire can show when hair is pulled back.

Matching the colour where it shows

In an updo the join is visible from the side and the back, so shade matters more than it does with loose hair. Superior Hair offers 40+ shades, including highlights and balayage tones. If you are between two shades, the colour ring and swatches let you hold real hair samples against your own at home.

Already wearing semi-permanent extensions?

If you have tape-ins or wefts, tell your stylist you plan to wear your hair up. Very high, scraped-back styles can expose bonds, while a low, textured bun or chignon usually hides them well. Ask your stylist to place the fascinator so its comb grips your natural hair, not a bond.

Prep the night before and the morning of

The night before

Wash your hair the day before, not the morning of. Second-day hair holds pins and curl far better. If you are wearing extensions, wash them too with a shampoo free of sulphates, parabens and alcohol, condition the mids and ends only, and let them dry completely before storing. The hair care guide has the full routine. Then do a practice run: put the fascinator on with your chosen style and turn your head quickly a few times. If it shifts at home, it will slide at the track.

The morning of

  • Spray a heat protectant through your own hair and any extensions before using hot tools. Remy human hair can be curled and straightened like your own, but it still needs protecting.
  • Mist a dry texture spray from roots to mid-lengths. This is what gives combs and pins their grip.
  • Build the style, then create the anchor: two bobby pins crossed in an X, flat against the head where the fascinator will sit.
  • Slide the comb under the X, or for a headband, pin through the band behind each ear with a pin that matches your hair colour.
  • Finish with a fine-mist hairspray, held at arm's length so it sets without going crunchy.

Your race day hair survival kit

Even a well-built style needs a touch-up by mid-afternoon. Pack these in your clutch.

  • Six to eight spare bobby pins in your hair colour
  • A travel-size hairspray
  • A small tail comb for smoothing flyaways
  • A spare clear elastic in case a ponytail loosens
  • A small pouch to hold clip-ins if you take them out later in the evening

At the end of the day, take out every pin before you brush. Remove clip-ins from the top row down, brush them gently from the ends upward, and store them dry, away from direct sunlight, so they are ready for the next event on your calendar.

Build a race day updo that holds

Classic clip-ins add the density a bun or chignon needs to grip a fascinator, and they go in at home in minutes.

Race day hair FAQ

What is the best hairstyle to wear with a fascinator?

A low, secured style works best with a fascinator. A sculpted low bun, side chignon or sleek low ponytail keeps the weight near your neck and leaves the side of your head smooth for the fascinator to sit on. These styles also hold up to wind far better than loose hair, so they still look neat at the last race.

How do you keep a fascinator in place all day?

Give it an anchor. Add dry texture spray where the fascinator will sit, cross two bobby pins in an X flat against your head, and slide the comb under the X. For a headband fascinator, pin through the band behind each ear. Second-day hair also grips better than freshly washed hair, so wash the day before.

Which side should a fascinator go on?

Most people wear a fascinator on the right side, tilted slightly forward, but there is no strict rule. Choose the side that suits your parting and face shape. Decide before you style, so you can build texture and your anchor pins on that side and keep any chignon or ponytail balanced on the opposite side.

Can you wear clip-in extensions with a fascinator?

Yes, and they often help. Clip-in extensions add density, which gives bobby pins and fascinator combs more hair to grip. Place the wefts below the crown so the clips hide inside your updo, and keep the exact spot where the fascinator comb sits in your own hair. For updos, clip-ins are more versatile than a halo.

How do I stop race day hair dropping in wind or humidity?

Choose a low, contained style, use texture spray for grip, and let every curl cool completely before brushing it out. Braids and low buns resist wind best. Finish with a fine-mist hairspray and carry spare pins and a travel spray, so you can smooth flyaways after a few hours outdoors.

Should I wear my hair up or down to the races?

Up is the safer choice for a full day at the races, because updos hold a fascinator securely and handle wind and humidity better. If you prefer hair down, a pinned half-up or soft waves swept back on the fascinator side is a good middle ground that still gives the headpiece a stable base.

Maintaining Hair Extensions 101

Are you tired of waiting for your hair to grow out or looking for a quick way to add volume and length to your locks? Hair extensions are a fantastic solution! With the ability to transform your hairstyle instantly, hair extensions have become a popular choice for many people. However, just like natural hair, hair extensions require proper care and maintenance to ensure they stay looking their best. In this blog, we will explore some essential tips for maintaining hair extensions so that you can enjoy them for a long time. Brush Your Extensions Regularly One of the most crucial steps in maintaining hair extensions is brushing them regularly. Brushing helps to prevent tangling and matting, which can cause damage to the extensions and your natural hair. Use a wide-toothed comb or a special extension brush to gently detangle the hair, starting from the ends and working your way up. Avoid harsh brushing or tugging as it can cause breakage or pulling on the bonds or wefts of the extensions. Shampoo and Condition with Care Proper shampooing and conditioning are crucial for maintaining hair extensions. Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for hair extensions. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the roots or bonds of the extensions as it can cause slippage or loosen the bonds. Instead, focus on the mid-lengths to ends of the hair. Rinse thoroughly and gently squeeze out excess water with a towel, avoiding any rubbing or twisting motions. Be Mindful of Heat Styling While hair extensions can be styled using hot tools, it's important to be cautious with heat styling to prevent damage. Use a heat protectant spray before using any hot tools, such as flat irons, curling irons, or hair dryers. Avoid applying direct heat to the bonds or wefts of the extensions, as it can weaken the bonds and cause them to slip. Use heat on a lower setting and limit the use of hot tools as much as possible to prolong the lifespan of your extensions. Sleep with Care Sleeping with hair extensions requires some special attention. Avoid going to bed with wet hair or sleeping with your hair extensions loose. Instead, loosely braid or tie your hair in a low ponytail to prevent tangling or matting while you sleep. Consider using a silk or satin pillowcase, which can help reduce friction and minimize damage to the extensions and your natural hair. Avoid Chlorine and Saltwater Chlorine and saltwater can be harsh on hair extensions and cause damage over time. If you plan to swim or be exposed to chlorine or saltwater, consider wearing a swim cap to protect your extensions. If that's not possible, rinse your extensions with clean water immediately after swimming to remove any chlorine or saltwater residue. Follow up with a moisturizing conditioner to restore moisture and prevent dryness. Get Regular Maintenance Just like natural hair, hair extensions also require regular maintenance. Schedule regular appointments with your stylist to have your extensions checked and maintained. This can include tightening the bonds, repositioning the wefts, or replacing any damaged extensions. Regular maintenance will help prolong the lifespan of your extensions and keep them looking their best. Avoid DIY Removal When it's time to remove your extensions, it's essential to avoid DIY removal. Trying to remove the extensions yourself can cause damage to your natural hair and the extensions. Always seek professional help from a trained stylist who can safely remove the extensions without causing any harm to your hair or the extensions. '' In conclusion, proper care and maintenance are essential for maintaining hair extensions and ensuring they look their best for a long time. Regular brushing, gentle shampooing and conditioning, being mindful of heat styling, sleeping with care, avoiding chlorine and saltwater, getting regular maintenance, and avoiding DIY removal are crucial to sustaining the hair of your dreams.

What Affects the Quality of Human Hair Extensions?

What Affects the Quality of Human Hair Extensions?

Human hair extensions are an excellent solution to achieving long, flowing, and natural-looking hair. But before getting extensions, it’s vital to know that these extra inches of hair come in different forms of grade and quality. As hair is a natural product that comes from various individuals, no two sets of hair extensions will be the same. Knowing which one suits you best will help you get the look you desire. We share the factors that cause the quality of human hair extensions to vary. Price When you buy hair extensions in NZ, you’ll quickly learn that you get the quality you pay for. Price varies greatly with hair extensions; synthetic hair extensions are a lot cheaper than high-quality and real human hair. More often than not, cheap synthetic hair will not blend as well with your own tresses compared to natural hair that offers fuller, natural-looking locks. The type of hair used in extensions The texture of your hair extension will also depend on the kind of hair used to create the hair extension itself. While there are synthetic options in the market, the most natural option for extensions is human hair. Reputable hair extension suppliers will give you three basic categories to choose from when shopping for human hair extensions: Virgin Virgin hair extensions use hair that has never undergone chemical processes, treatments, or alterations in any way. This means no dyes, bleaches, or perms have been done after collection. Virgin hair is as natural of a hair extension option as one is ever going to get. Remy Also known as cuticle hair, Remy is healthy and non-processed human hair wherein each strand is carefully selected to ensure the cuticle remains intact. Remy hair runs in the same direction, allowing it to have a soft and silky texture. Remy extensions are also single-sourced, meaning the hair comes from a single person. Grading Grading is also important in determining the quality of your hair extensions. At Superior Hair, we have three different grades of virgin Remy hair extensions: A Grade A grade is medium-grade 100% human hair that has been subjected to a more basic production process. It’s one of the most cost-effective options and remains a top seller in the hair industry because of its quality and price. AAA Grade AAA grade is human hair that is more conditioned and designed to be longer lasting than A grade. AAA grade is processed to handle more washes yet remain soft, shiny, and healthy for longer. Premium Grade Premium grade is the highest-quality processed human hair that is available at Superior Hair. Premium-grade Remy hair has strength and quality that are very similar to Virgin hair and can last up to a year with proper care. The hair under this category has been gently coloured to bring you a wide variety of natural-looking hair colours.   Installation The hairstylist you choose is just as important as the hair extension itself. Why? Because the fixation method and placement skills will affect how naturally your extensions will blend with your natural mane, no matter the hair texture. You need to work with a professional who knows how to apply and remove extensions professionally to avoid hair damage. Colour experience is also a must. An inaccurate colour match will make your extensions obvious. Another non-negotiable is their experience in haircuts. After extensions are put in, you’ll need a haircut that can make your extensions more natural and seamless-looking, with layers that naturally blend your own hair with your new hair. Get premium quality hair extensions from Superior Hair Not all human hair extensions are designed the same, but what matters most is choosing one that’s most suitable for your hair type. At Superior Hair, we offer a wide range of high-quality hair extensions that allow you to achieve gorgeous and natural-looking locks. Our ready-to-wear extensions are made with 100% AAA grade double drawn human hair, while our permanent extensions are premium grade, made using the highest quality virgin Remy hair. What Makes Halo Weft Extensions Stand Out?

What Makes Halo Weft Extensions Stand Out?

Halo weft extensions or Halo extensions are newer types of hair extensions in NZ that have gained popularity in the last decade. If you’re looking for ways to add length and volume to your hair, without damaging your delicate natural hair, using a Halo extension can be the ideal solution for you. If you’re not familiar with how this hair extension works, you’ve come to the right place. We cover the basics of Halo - what it is, how it works, and what makes it different from other hair extensions.   What are Halo hair extensions? Halo wefts or Halo weft extensions are made from real human hair. They are primarily used to add length and volume to your hair using less clips than other hair extension methods, which helps to minimise damage over time. How do you install Halo extensions? The halo uses a hidden or transparent wire that sits on your head like a crown. Once successfully placed, your natural hair will sit on top of the halo and firmly hold it in place.   What makes them different from regular hair extensions? More common hair extension methods require glue or clips and if not used correctly, may cause drying, friction, and breakage. On the other hand, the halo doesn’t need extra tools or accessories to attach to your head. 1. Halo vs Clip-Ins: Clip-in hair extensions use small comb-like clips that snap into place on your natural hair. You need to tease your hair first so that it can grip and stay in place. The problem with this is that each time you remove or install clip-ins, some of your natural hair will be caught in the small combs, resulting in hair damage. 2. Halo vs Tape Ins – Tape ins are semi-permanent hair extensions that require no heat tools. They are installed by applying a skin weft above and below sections of your hair, which is best done by a professional. With appropriate care and proper installation, tape ins can generally last between 4-6 months. 3. Halo vs Nano Tips – Nano tips are applied to the hair using a small piece of acrylic and nano beads. Installation requires the assistance of a professional. They are applied similarly to traditional microbead extensions but are 90% smaller; the small extension tips are specifically designed to fit into the tiny beads. Advantages of wearing Halo extensions There are numerous advantages of using Halo hair extensions. Some of them include: • Quick to install – Halo extensions are known for their speedy hair extension installation process. It only takes 30 seconds or less compared to other types of hair extensions that require at least 30 minutes to install. • Comfortable to wear – Placing the halo doesn’t hurt and is extremely comfortable to wear. Wearing Halo extensions can be likened to wearing a hat. You can put it on and take it off in a quick second. • Cost-effective – Installing hair extensions such as the microbead requires the skilled hands of an experienced hair professional, and these services are not cheap. These extensions also require removal and reinstallation every four to ten weeks as your hair grows. On the other hand, you can invest in Halo extensions and they will last for 3 to 12 months. • Low maintenance – There’s no intricate installation or removal process for the Halo extension. Plus, you can sleep with it in! • Zero hair damage – Using Halo extensions doesn’t damage your hair - at all! • Customizable – You can curl, straighten, and even dye your Halo hair extensions!   Add volume and length, without the damage! If you have thin or fine hair and are looking for ways to add volume and length without any chances of hair damage, the Halo extension is your answer! It’s easy to use, quick to put on, comfortable to wear, and safe to use for your delicate, natural hair. At Superior Hair, we offer a range of Halo wefts designed to add thickness and length to your hair. We offer 25 shades of gorgeous, lush hair. Ready for great-looking hair? Why Are My Nano Beads Losing Their Colour?

Why Are My Nano Beads Losing Their Colour?

There are a few reasons why nano beads can lose their colour, causing them to turn copper/gold. If you or your client’s beads turn gold, the following information can help you understand why.  Shampoo ingredients The most common cause of colour loss in nano beads is due to the additives found in shampoos. Even salon quality shampoos, including dry shampoo can contain these additives; affecting beads only after a few washes. The purpose of additives in shampoo is to create a lather, act as a thickening agent or even to keep them from freezing during shipping. If you suspect your shampoo is the cause of the colour loss, you may wish to experiment with another.  Styling Heating tools, such as straighteners, blow dryers and curling irons can all cause nano beads to lose their colour. Frequently touching the beads with these tools will cause the paint to soften and chip away. To prevent this from happening, avoid directly touching the beads with the tool.  Medications Chemicals in certain medications are carried to the hair follicle through the bloodstream, causing nano beads to lose their colour. These toxins can stay in the hair follicle for months and will not wash out. Medications, like antidepressants, birth controls, and acne medications, can induce colour change, as can Vitamin A, and narcotics.

Why Are My Extensions Changing Colour?

Why Are My Extensions Changing Colour?

Just as you would your own hair, hair extensions need to be protected and cared for to avoid any discolouration. As your hair extensions are a natural product, they will behave like human hair. Rest assured that your extensions are not faulty, in fact blonde extensions that have turned a brassy/peachy/pink shade is a common issue experienced by hair extension wearers. Why have my extensions turned brassy?  When blonde hair is coloured, violet/ash pigments are added to the hair to neutralize the warm shades, subsequently eliminating brassy tones. Extensions that have turned from blonde to orange have simply undergone a chemical process, resulting in the violet/ash pigments lifting away from the hair, exposing the natural pigment underneath. Since the hair is no longer attached to the scalp, it no longer receives the natural nutrients that act as a protective barrier.  This porosity along with several possible external triggers is what makes hair extensions more susceptible to damage and discolouration than natural hair.  Triggers that cause discolouration: Sunscreens: Some sunscreens contain a certain ingredient that can alter the colour of your hair extensions often making them appear a peach or brassy tone. When choosing your sunscreen avoid purchasing one that contains Avebenzone (butyl Methoxydibenzolmethane) which is a oil-soluble ingredient used in sunscreen to absorb the full spectrum of UV rays. Water content: Tank water, copper pipes or Hard/high mineral content in water can leave a limescale like residue in the hair. As the hair is no longer attached to the scalp, the oils and nutrients needed to counteract this damage are not there.  Chlorine: Chlorine can strip the hair of oils, colour and moisture leaving it dry, brittle and discoloured. It’s recommended to tie your hair up and avoid submerging it underwater. After swimming, it’s good to run clean water over your hair to remove excess chlorine.  Sea Water: As salt is a natural dehydrator, it will strip your hair of moisture and nutrifying natural oils. Salt water will discolour your hair by removing the violet/ashy pigments in the hair.  Sunlight/UV Rays: Sunlight acts as a natural lightener on hair. Since your hair extensions are lacking the protective barriers your natural hair provides, they are prone to being lightened much faster than your hair would.  As the sun is especially harsh in New Zealandand Australia we recommend using a cap when out in the sun, especially in summer. Correcting discoloured hair extensions To restore the colour of the hair extensions you will need to reintroduce the violet/ashy tones that have lifted away. Start with a small amount of purple/silver shampoo or toner until you reach the desired colour. If using a toner, it’s recommended that you perform a strand test beforehand to guarantee the expected outcome. Aside from discolouration, it’s likely that your hair extensions are also dry. This is a common side effect of discolouration, as not only have the violet pigments stripped away but so have the oils that keep the hair nourished. If you find that the hair feels brittle, you can apply a hair mask or a product designed to give a moisture injection.

How to Prevent Tangling and Matting in Hair Extensions

How to Prevent Tangling and Matting in Hair Extensions

Getting down to the root cause. Don’t you hate it when your hair extensions matt and tangle?Even though hair extensions are a beautiful hair solution, sometimes they can tangle and you don’t even know what’s causing it. The most common causes your extensions tangle  1) Not taking good care of your hair extensions Hair quality of the extensions is important. At Superiorhair, we vow to provide you with the highest tier hair extensions guaranteed. We assure you that you won’t have to worry about those low-quality hair extensions that have been overly processed that would tangle immediately to the exposure of water or poor weather conditions. 2) Low-quality hair products Hair products can take a toll on your hair extensions. The use of proper hair products makes a huge difference in whether your hair will tangle and matt up or remain soft and manageable. Find out what products work best by doing your own personal thorough research or feel free to ask the crew at Superior Hair. We can’t stress it enough, it’s highly recommended that you don’t risk the condition of your hair for low-quality products. Other common causes 3) Hair length Super long hair is prone to tangling so it’s advisable to trim it in layers. 4) Dryness Dry hair becomes brittle and can easily tangle up. Now that you know the common causes of tangling and matting, let's find out how you can prevent them. How to prevent tangling and matting? 1) Regular brushing It’s that simple! Regularly brushing your hair significantly reduces the chances of your hair tangling down the road.Always start from the ends and work towards the roots, and we advise you to do so when your hair is wet. If you opt to brush your hair when wet, be sure to use a wide-tooth comb. Tangling and knotting tend to happen mostly at the ends when hair is not brushed for days. 2) Use Sulphate-free hair products We urge you to steer clear of hair products that contain sulphate. Using products containing sulphates can strip your extensions of their natural moisture, leaving them weak and looking dry. After shampooing, apply an appropriate moisturising hair product that would leave your extensions well hydrated. 3) Secure your hair at night Not tying up your hair can cause your extensions to rub against your pillow throughout the night. As a result, friction is created which leads you to wake up with tangled hair. If you’d rather not tie up your hair, it’s advisable to sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. Protect your hair extensions and prevent tangling at all costs! 4) Detangle, Detangle We cannot emphasize this enough. Also, please note that detangling is very different from brushing. This is what we mean: Brushing is a preventative measure whereasDetangling is a recovery measure if your hair extensions tangle up, it is important to take your time to detangle them while they’re wet. You can also use your fingers so that there’s less tension and pulling on the strands. Ensure the detangling is done thoroughly It’s up to you now! Preventing tangling and matting is not rocket science. All it takes is attention, proper care, and patience. Using proper products and tools go a long way. We hope this blog will help you to prevent tangling, matting, and shedding. Superior Hair hopes that you are now well equipped to handle tangling when it occurs. All the best on your glamourous looks!

Expert Tips for Perfectly Installing Clip-in Hair Extensions

Expert Tips for Perfectly Installing Clip-in Hair Extensions

Hair extensions can be difficult to install at first. But, with enough practice, they should only take up 5 mins of your time in the morning. They’re easy, they make you look gorgeous and do zero damage to your hair. What’s there not to like about them? Step-by-step how to look flawless with your extensions   1. Brushing The process of clip hair extensions starts with brushing your natural hair. Make sure you remove all the tangles using a good quality hairbrush to avoid any issues while using the extensions. 2. Install the longer 4 piece weft First, you want to install the longest weft. Separate your hair horizontally at the back of your head, around your ears. Make sure the separation is relatively straight, clip it up, and clip in your longest weft. This should be your 4 clip weft. Brush it out and start with the next longest piece. 3. Install the next longest piece Your next longest piece could be a 3 clip or 4 clip, depending on your set of extensions. Separate your hair horizontally just above your ears and your first weft installed. Clip it up, and clip your extensions in. Work your way up until you only have the 1 clip/2 clip wefts left. 4. Side wefts Your smaller wefts can be installed on the sides of your hair, and are adjustable to how you want your extensions to look.  5. Protect and Style Take out all of your holding clips, and brush it out. Spray on a heat protectant, and style it however you want!
